Saturday

June 13

Prepare for War! - On Saturday morning tune your radio to a.m. 533 for updated advisories on parking availablity in downtown Charleston. Republic Parking, which operates the garages and the City Police Department are working together to direct you to those garages with available space. Help us keep the streets moving so everyone can get parked and to the waterfront in time. Extra DASH shuttle buses have been added to the routes running the battle area to speed you to the waterfront. Parking lot attendents and DASH drivers have been briefed and are ready to direct you to the best viewing at Waterfront Park, the Civil War Camp at the Hazel Parker Athletic Fields and High Battery. Bring your binoculars and a portable radio to hear the live WTMA a.m. 1250 battle broadcast.

Camp, Hazel Parker Park, 70 East Bay Streetl

Camp and living history demonstrations open to Public. Includes Field Hospital with medical artifacts display. Signal Corps camp. H.Q. Tent of Gen. Beauregard. Infantry, Artillery, Cavalry and Federal camps. A detailed description of camp activities can be found in the Detailed General Press Release. Admission to the camp is $5 per family or #2.50 per single adult. Proceeds benefit renovation of Charleston's historic market hall.

Ft. Lamar, James Island

Living History at Ft. Lamar, site of the 1862 Battle of Secessionville. This is an independent event not officially associated with War at Flood Tide. Please contact the Fort Lamar Stewardship Committee for Details.

Schooner Pride

Battle between Confederate Shore Batteries (11 Cannon) and Two ship Federal Naval Force, based on Confederate artillery and Federal Naval battle of June 12, 1983 in Folly River. Signal corps working to direct fire. Can be viewed from Harbor’s edge from Waterfront Park to Battery. Information on the War at Flood Tide Fleet Vessels.

UDC Museum 34 Pitt St.

Secession Flag at UDC Museum

Siege of Charleston relics on display at 34 Pitt St. tempoary home of the Charleston United Daughters of the Confederacy Museum. Relics include uniforms worn during the seige, weapons, artillery projectiles, personal effects of soldiers and a number of flags including the stainless banner shot down and raised under fire at Ft. Sumter. Funds raised by War at Flood Tide '98 will be donated to the City of Charleston to benefit renovation of Market Hall, once and future home of the museum.

White Point Gardens, The Battery

Concert with the Trident Community Band, Music of the Divided and United States, Closes with Patriotic Finale with artillery accompaniment of 16 gun battery. Read about the Concert in our press release. In case of rain, the concert will be held at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul, 130 Coming Street..
