Civil War @ Charleston attempts to cover issues, people and historic events for the period of the American Civil War from the Signing of the Ordinance of Secession on December 20, 1860 until the official declaration of the end of the war on August 20, 1865 and matters closely connected thereto.

Georgraphically, we try to cover actions and places within one day's ride (about 60 miles by horse, don't try it on your horse there isn't a war on and you would have no excuse). We also to cover Naval Actions launched from and against Charleston . We cover the lives and actions of Charlestonians and military units from Charleston during the war whereever they are found. We also cover the Beaufort, SC area because it was used extensively as a staging ground for assualts on Charleston. We also cover contemporary Civil War related activities in Charleston regardless of the location of the historic events they relate to. We bend these rules when we want to and accept relevant links of all types, including links in related matters in other geographic locations. In cooperation with the 54th. Massachusetts, we have a strong African American page and welcome all African American Civil War Links.
