Ft. Lamar Stewardship Committee

Fort Lamar of the Battle of Secessionville fame is now open to the public under the auspices of the South Carolina Heritige Trust Program and day to day operation of its stewardship committee, a group of 85-90 local volunteers who helped reclaim it from the ravages of time and now maintain it for the benefit and enjoyment of those interested in its splendid history. The Fort is located on Fort Lamar Road, Just off State Highway 171 (Folly Road), on James Island. Hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. seven days a week. While it is designed for self guided tours, conducted tours for groups are available by appointment.
