The American Civil War continues to inspire creativity and controversy in and around Charleston. This page collects the art, craft, music and fictional literature that finds its creative stimulus in the period. It also provides a place for the less pleasant controversies which continue to erupt here and nearby regarding the war. Unequiped to support full dialogue on these issues, we refer users to the available newsgroups and listserves on the controversies. William Hamilton welcomes your suggestions.

• Colleton County Confederate Monument - A challenge to the Confederate Monument in Walterboro is tracked day by day.
• The Confederate Flag- We can't possibly track it all, but here is some of what has come to our attention here and a starting place for reading and research.
