Commercial Civil War Web Sites Related to Charleston, SC.
We have tried to locate those commercial web sites which concentrate on the Civil War in Charleston, SC. This does not include the many fine general tourism oriented web sites now up, many of which can be reached through the links in our tourism information section.
- C.S.A. Galleries Website- Owner and State Senator Glen McConnell's steadfast support of historic preservation and education is unexceeded in the states of the old Confederacy. His North Charleston shop sells first rate Civil War, Old South and Military art and collectibles. Glen donates his time, money, work and influence to virtually every history related cause in the state. He is the head of the Hunley Commission and the Commission to erect an African American History Memorial on the Statehouse grounds in Columbia. The Black Caucus specifically requested that he chair the commission even though he has been a stalwart supporter of the Confederate Flag there. There are people here who won't by the Civil War stuff anywhere else.
- Civil War Figures by Mark Saunders- Mark is a local artist making figures of Civil War Soldiers of both sides. He donates his examples of his work to community charities and preservation groups where they are sold, auctioned or used as door prizes.
- Sumter Military Antiques sells original artifacts of the Civil War, Confederate and Federal, by mail order. Ray Davenport supports local preservation and history events by purchasing advertising and donating items for auctions and raffles. He coordinates the annual Civil War relic show which makes donations to several historic groups and provides free table space for several non-profit groups including the S.C. Battleground Preservation Trust, Inc.
- The House of Times Past is South Carolina's only maker of Civil War Era uniforms to offer a full line of sutler goods, weapons, equipment and supplies. They often visit Charleston for reenactments and Civil War events to offer thier goods to reenactors and the public. They make a number of South Carolina early war militia uniforms available no where else in the world.
- The Charleston Shoreline Shop sells Civil War art in the City Market and helps distribute promotional material on local events.
