WRIT OF CERTIORARI
The writ is issued in order that the court issuing the writ may inspect the proceedings and determine whether there have been any irregularities. In the United States Supreme Court the writ is discretionary with the Court and will be issued to any court in the land to review a federal question if at least 4 of the 9 justices vote to hear the case. A similar writ by some state courts is called CERTIFICATION.
