A SHORT DISCUSSION OF HAROLD WORLEY,
A LAST MINUTE ENTRY, IS IN THE 'POLITICS' SECTION

Thanks for visiting us. The home page menu (above) should help you find any needed information. It shows you what we're doing and gives you E-Mail and other methods to reach candidate Thompson.

In 1992, as an unknown, spending only $12,000, I ran a 'clean' campaign based on the need to have people with skills beyond those of a lawyer in Congress. That campaign polled nearly 25% of the vote (about 40,000 votes). The 'professional politicians' said: "Don't waste your vote on Charlie Thompson. He'll get a few hundred votes, at best. We proved them wrong in 1992 and with your help we can win in 1996 and get on with the job of putting American back on a Constitutional track!

The United States is a republic. We elect representatives to watch over the government so we, the people, don't have to worry with it every day. At least that's how the founding fathers expected the system to work. The past decades have seen our representatives help the government stick its nose into the smallest parts of our life. That's the problem we face with today's politicians! They've lost sight of what THEIR job is!

We have also allowed 'professional' politicians to convince us that knowledge of how government works is more important than knowledge of how the world works. Once we had members of the Senate with experience in 'real' jobs. Now, most of the Senators have been doing 'government' for decades and don't remember what it's like for us. You can't make good law if you don't understand the 'real world' impact of that legislation!

A humorous example of how understanding the 'real world' can change things happened on the day I announced as a candidate for the 1996 U.S. Senate race.
One reporter waited until everyone finished then came up: "You're the Charlie Thompson that ran in 1992?" I replied yes. "You're the one that said we should scrap the Space Station and build a colony on the moon. You said they could do more with a colony and also watch for asteroids that might hit the earth." Again, I replied yes.

The reporter smiled, looked around to make sure no one was near, then said: "You know, I thought you were a bit of a 'flake' with that moon colony idea. But when that comet hit Jupiter a few months back; you started looking like a pretty smart guy!"

That's why we need people with technical knowledge in the U.S. Senate. You must understand what the technology can do or you can't use it!.

I have the knowledge, life experience, and training to be an excellent Senator. I've always pointed to my abilities and never wasted time talking about the character flaws of other candidates.
