The Battle of Secessionville was fought on James Island, near Charleston, South Carolina on June 16, 1862. This was the first major Federal effort to take Charleston. This page pulls together documents and information on this Battle found on the Civil War @ Charleston web site and other locations. Efforts are currently being made to preserve the remaining portions of the site. An annual reenactment of the Battle is held and information on that event may also be found here as it becomes available.

This years reenactment of the battle will take place on November 13 & 14. On Friday, Nov. 12, we will have a parade, which will begin at 10:00 a.m., at White Point Gardens and proceed to Magnolia Cemetery. At 2:00 p.m. we will have the ceremony and reinteer the remains of the 23 sailors we exhumed from Johnson Hagood Stadium, at the Citadel. The ceremony for Hunley sailors will be seperate, and has not been announced at this time. Please join us in this event.
